Some Special Prints
I wanted to let you know about some interesting collector's photographs that we have available. The first one is the best known image by the late O. Winston Link, Hot Shot Eastbound at the Iaeger Drive In, Iaeger, West Virginia, 1956. This is a limited-edition posthumous estate print signed by the printer. As far as I know, the edition has sold out, and this print is quite difficult to find now. Our price is $3,800.00, which is below the going rate.
The next print is by the late Martha Holmes. It is a signed contact sheet of her famous sitting with Jackson Pollock in 1949. It is very rare and used to be available to me through LIFE Magazine. The last one they sold went for $9,500.00. I am offering this one for $8,000.00. (Click here to see the image chosen for publication. It sells for $4,500.00 in 20 x 16.)
Next is one of the best known photographs by Edward S. Curtis. It is called The Storm-Apache and was in his first volume of photogravure prints. It is printed on Japanese rice tissue. We have it priced at $14,000.00, and most dealers ask several thousand more.
The last one we have is Alfred Eisenstaedt's famous VJ Day in Times Square, August 14, 1945. It is one of the most famous photographs of that era. It's signed and on 24 x 20 inch paper. The price is $44,000.00. The only size still available from LIFE Magazine is a 20 x 16, and they have it priced at $48,000.00.
