Glassworts and Brown Bushes, Matagorda Bay, Indianola

Indianola was once a thriving port of early colonists from the British Isles and Germany. Two major hurricanes within eleven years, the last one was 1886, wiped out the colony and the only remnants are battered headstones in the cemetery and a massive cistern on a small hill. Now Indianola is a quaint fishing village rich in brackish lakes and salt water marshes.
