Portfolio One: The Seasons

This is a rare beautiful Eliot Porter portfolio we have recently obtained. It was published by the Sierra Club in 1963 (although it is entitled Portfolio One, Porter's first portfolio was American Birds from 1953). The Seasons consists of 12 dye transfer prints, 8½ x 10 inches in size dry mounted to a 20 x 15 inch backing. The edition was 105 copies, with 100 copies being for sale. Only the frontispiece is signed. The striking thing about the portfolio we have for sale is that it is number 1 in the edition! The prints are in good condition, although the mounts are a bit worn. Some of the lower backs of the mounts feature a framer's stamp. The portfolio box is in perfect condition. This unique item sells for $14,000.00. Now specially priced at $9,500.00. This is way below market value. This portfolio has now been sold.
