James Evans

We are pleased to present the exceptional documentary photography of James Evans. Living out in Marathon, Texas, his images of the local people and landscape have been widely published and appreciated in this state and across the country. His work is regularly featured in Texas Monthly (nine pages in the March issue) and has also been seen many other publications both in the U.S.A. and the U.K. His work is in the photography collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center at the University of Texas. Recently, the University of Texas Press published a large handsome monograph of his work entitled Big Bend Pictures (details on page two).

Mr. Evans was born in West Virginia in 1954. He lived in Philadelphia before coming to Texas and moved to Marathon in 1988.
